00/99 Black Win Champions Cup Spring Invitational
Ripon, CA – The ACC Mavericks 99/00 Black season ended with a bang Sunday at the Champions Cup Spring Invitational, with the team taking home the Cup after beating the host Monarcas Academy 00 in a wild 3-2 thriller. The tournament started with a goal fest as the Mavericks topped Pac San Jose 99 Galaxy 5-2.  The first day ended with a hard fought 2-0 win over Pittsburg 2000. Sunday morning proved to be the toughest test, against the highest ranked team in the bracket, Alliance FC Olympique.

In the finale, the Mavericks raced ahead to a 2-0 lead thanks to two fantastic goals by Daniel Castro.  Just when the game looked comfortable, Monarcas reminded everyone why they are so highly regarded with a slick counter attack, getting back into the game at 2-1.  The second half started well for the hosts, as they capitalized on a mistake at the back, tying the game at 2-2.  Both teams battled fatigue from motivated competition in prior games and the 90 degree heat, and were desperate for a winning goal.  That goal came with five minutes left, as Misael Rodriguez beat two defenders wide and played a great ball across, where Castro completed his hat trick to take the 3-2 lead.  The Mavericks bunkered defensively, and despite a few great chances for the Monarcas to tie it back up, the Mavericks held on.

“It came down to heart in the end,” said Mavericks coach Cameron Parkinson. “Four games in two days takes its toll. It’s so easy to fold and after losing a 2-0 lead in a final in these kinds of conditions, but the team just wouldn’t settle for second place.”

An Introduction to The Mavericks

The Mavericks Soccer Club is the premier soccer program of the Bay Area I-80 corridor and the only club in the area to offer US Club Soccer National Premier League (NPL) competition.

The Mavericks play competitively in the NorCal Premier Soccer League (NorCal) and NPL and is locally the select soccer program of the Alameda-Contra Costa Youth Soccer League (ACCYSL).  Players both in ACCYSL and outside of the league are encouraged to tryout for the Mavericks teams in their age group.  This is the highest level of play offered locally to youth soccer players.  Team formation occurs during open tryouts held during the January - March each year.

Player Development First - Each Mavericks player develops their skill during practices, tournaments, clinics, league games, NPL showcases and events, and NorCal State Cup.

Professional Coaches with varied playing and coaching experiences in the Collegiate and Professional ranks make up the core of our staff.  Each player and coach is evaluated by our A-licensed Technical Director to ensure that their development is kept on track.

Engaging Programs and Clinics are offered throughout the year for Mavericks players.   Programs include Club-wide Summer Camp, Winter Skills Clinics, Goalkeeper Clinics, Striker Clinics, Skills/Footwork Clinics, and Youth Academies.

The Mavericks are proud of its long, rich history.  Our players come from all of our communities - socially, geographically, and ethnically.  Our goal is to offer the highest level of soccer to all qualified players.  All we ask of a player is the ability and commitment to play at this level.  The Mavericks offer an outstanding opportunity for players to reach their highest soccer potential.
